Recently we celebrated the March and April birthdays with a Japanese lunch, in keeping with our ongoing project about Japan.
Lunch was served in the barns, and tables were made special with some handmade chopsticks on holders for people to use. There were place holders made from log rounds, and these were personalised with our names in Japanese calligraphy.
For example, メアリー = Mearī (Mary)
We sampled all kinds of foods, including sushi, teriyaki chicken, octopus dumplings (yum!), and even chocolate cake! We also tried strawberry-flavoured Kit-Kats and drank Japanese tea, such as matcha.
