Sleep Issues and Solutions

Most people with autism struggle with sleep. Some common difficulties are:

  • Over active mind

  • Feeling 'fidgety' or restless

  • Noise (too much, too little or the wrong type of noise)

  • Too hot/cold

  • Sensory issues with textures from bedding/clothes etc.

We have come up with some solutions to help with this:

  • Wind-down time or routine

  • Audio books/white noise machine/silence (earbuds)

  • Soft bed safe fidget toys

  • Comfort/familiar item

  • Weighted blanket
